Hunting dogs are a popular subject for many people, but I knew very little about them before meeting "Sam." Bill Ferguson is so enthusiastic about his dogs and the sport of hunting them. He told me you can tell how close Sam is to his bird by how tightly his mouth is held. The dog directly behind Sam, in the painting, is "honoring" Sam’s point. The one to the side and behind is in training and dislikes honoring Sam. Well, his name is "Rebel." What do you expect?
